A couple of weeks or so ago I was out walking our dog Bailey. We had taken a long walk that day and one that went past the neighboring marina. It was during this walk that I had spotted one of many sailboats that drew my attention to it. The name of the boat is "Offline". I found this to be an interesting name and I couldn't help but to notice the contrast between the boat name and the fact that the boat owner had displayed his URL address on the back of the boat. I made a mental note of this website so that I could email the boat owner to inquire about sunset sails. (www.SailingOffline.nl)
Over the past couple of weeks, or so, I have been communicating with the boat's owner - Peter. Peter had planned a sailing trip up to London for the Olympics. It was suppose to be a 6-passenger, 3-day sail up to London with participation in the Olympic flotilla and the boat parade down the Thyme's, an ability to see the opening games (from the boat), 6-days of 'hanging out' in London during the games using the boat as a 'hotel', and then a 3-day sail back home. Carrie and I were invited to join Peter and 4 other passengers for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Unfortunately, though, this trip had to be cancelled due to a timing issue related to passenger commitments needed. Although I'm not sure that Carrie and I could of committed ourselves to this 12-day adventure, it was fun to dream about the unique possibility of it!
The weather here has been rainy and not so great the past couple of weeks. However, this weekend was beautiful! We were very lucky. Last night we went sailing out on the North Sea for what would be a spectacular sunset sail! We motored away from the dock at 6:00pm and we didn't return until around 10:45pm. The water was calm, the sky was blue with few clouds, and the air was very comfortable.
Peter offers various sailing trips, which range from a few hour sail, to weekend excursions, to several days journeying about to unique destinations. After an evening like last night, it's hard for us not to start daydreaming of other possible adventures out on this 45' sailboat.
