Home Sweet Home!

This morning we moved into our new home and it feels great!  We are living in an area called Statenkwartier; which is a very nice area and it is one that is conveniently positioned between Den Haag's City Centrum and Scheveningen (a beach community).

Our home is only a few steps away from a popular street known as 'The Fred'.  Here you will find specialty shops, restaurants, pubs, a grocery store, bookstore, etc.  For those of you who know me well, you know that living next to a street called 'The Fred' must have special meaning to me.  It does (as my dad's name was Fred).

My dad and I shared an interest in traveling and we were fortunate enough to travel together while he was healthy.  We had experienced Italy, London, the Caribbean, and numerous US states / cities together.  I cannot help but to think of my dad often and to contemplate how much he would have enjoyed experiencing this part of the world with us.  He would have spent hours at the Den Haag market today, he would have purchased a 'treat' at nearly every specialty market nearby and he would have enjoyed spending time with us for weeks on end.

Deciding to move to Den Haag was a major decision for me.  While I was here in early February, visiting the city for the first time so that I could make a decision on whether or not to move, I had quietly asked my dad for his opinion on whether or not this was a good move for me and for us.  I had requested that he make his answer "obvious".  Guess what?  We were introduced to 'The Fred' that same day and it is the only street name here that I can pronounce!  As you can imagine, it was in that moment that I immediately knew my dad remained present in my life and that he would always be right here by my side.  As they say, "there are no coincidences or accidents in life".

Take a look at the photos below of our beautiful new home... and one that is located very close to 'The Fred'.
