Well, it's been just over one week and we've already had some amazing experiences!
Our first few days were ones of 'adjusting'. I mean... adjusting to being in a different time zone (6 hours ahead of the U.S. Eastern Time Zone), living in a temporary apartment on the 'second floor' (i.e. what we would consider to be the third floor back home), shopping in a very small grocery store where nothing is in English, cooking in a kitchen with no oven (nor containing any of the cooking essentials such as spices, oils, etc), navigating through the winding streets, understanding the local public transportation system, figuring out where to convert U.S. currency (after learning that Netherland banks won't do this), guessing on how to operate the very small and stackable washer / dryer, etc. Yes, we have been, and continue to be, adjusting!!!
We cannot imagine what this experience would be like if we didn't have the modern technology that we are so fortunate to have today. It has been fun sharing some of our photos and experiences so far via Facebook, Skype and through various emails and telephone calls. We hope that our family and friends back home know how much they mean to us and enjoy our postings, which are meant to journal our experiences and to share our new discoveries!
